The Qur'an and Sunnah offer valuable insights and practical advice on maintaining physical, mental, and spiritual health. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of taking care of one's body. He said, "Your body has a right over you" (Bukhari). This hadith underscores the significance of prioritizing physical health. Islamic teachings promote healthy habits, such as moderation in eating, physical activity/exercise, hygiene and cleanliness, all of which shall be discussed in this newsletter.
Moderation in eating: The Qur'an advises believers to eat and drink in moderation, avoiding excess (Q7:31). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also warned against overeating, saying, "We are a people who do not eat until we are hungry, and when we eat, we do not eat to excess" (Muslim).
Physical activity/ Exercise: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged physical activity, saying, "Teach your children swimming, archery, and horse riding" (Bukhari). Regular exercise is essential for maintaining physical health and well-being.
Hygiene and cleanliness: Islam places great emphasis on cleanliness and hygiene. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Cleanliness is half of faith" (Muslim). Regular bathing, brushing teeth, and maintaining personal hygiene are essential for physical and mental health.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The believer's relationship with another believer is like a building whose different parts enforce each other" (Bukhari). Taqwa (God-consciousness): The Qur'an advises believers to cultivate taqwa, saying, "O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared" (Q3:102). Therefore,developing a strong sense of God-consciousness can promote spiritual growth and well-being.
Qur'an recitation and reflection: The Qur'an is a source of guidance and comfort for believers. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Recite the Qur'an regularly, for it is a source of comfort and guidance" (Bukhari). Regular Qur'an recitation and reflection can nurture spiritual growth.
Dhikr (remembrance of Allah): The Qur'an advises believers to remember Allah frequently, saying, "O you who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance" (Q33:41). Dhikr can help cultivate spiritual awareness and promote inner peace.
